Subject: [LIG] IIT-Madras mirrors tons of linux goodies - ftp.iitm.ac.in
Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

ilugc guys : this is fyi.
----
Hi,

This was all discussed on the ilug-c mailing list ages ago,
but while on irc.linux-india.org, I discovered that none of the
non-madrasis knew about the fact that IIT-M has invested in a mirror
for linux goodies in madras.

As of right now, they mirror debian stable, redhat iso +
security-updates , and are also the official mirrors of ftp.ssh.com in
india .. and I asked for a wishlist for them to mirror ftp.kernel.org
for the linux-kernel ... they also have star office lying around...

Dr.Sriram is the ftp master of ftp.iitm.ac.in, I think, and is
reachable at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] = Many
thanks to him.

Also, ftp.iitm.ac.in is limited currently to a max. of 50
connections at a given moment, with a max. of only 3 connects per IP
address so one guy doesn't hog all the b/w.

I have attached my sources.list incase anyone is
interested.
->
deb ftp://ftp.iitm.ac.in/linux/debian stable main contrib non-free
deb ftp://ftp.iitm.ac.in/linux/debian-non-US stable/non-US main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org stable/updates main contrib non-free
<-

Please see the archives of ilug-c regarding this, in
particular : http://lists.linux-india.org/lists/ilug-c/200101/msg00214.html

Might I ask that someone subscribed to both LIG and LIH
forward this mail to LIH for the information/knowledge of junta?

        Cheers,

        -ravi.

LIH is all for free speech. But it was created
for a purpose. Violations of the rules of
this list will result in stern action.
