        Did you give the type vfat?
mkdir /mnt/win
mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /mnt/win

Note: it will work only if you have win98/ME . If you have winNT/2k with
NTFS partition, you can atmost have read access with -t ntfs if it is
supported on your distro.

        Core files are memory dumps usually for debugging when some
application crashes. If you want to stop it, put uname -c 0 in
/etc/profile.
