netcfg, for instance, changes files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
you can just edit them yourself. After that, network / inet etc are
restarted. You can do that yourself too ...
Absolutely no reason to use netcfg (or linuxconf for that matter) as it tends
to screw up manual settings, plus misconfigure lots of things (sendmail is
just one example).
