u need to hav the linux source installed on ur machine at
/usr/src/linux. change to that directory and go thr' the README* files.
it will tel u all abt kernel compilations.

for QUOTA support, u need to do a "make menuconfig" and then go over to
the "Filesystems" tag. the first option is "Quota Support" which needs
to b cheked.
