Hi everybody, I vaguely remember reading somewhere that their download/upload speed increased significantly after using the asyncmap feature of ppp. If asyncmap option is not specified ppp will escape all control characters. So it does seem, some improvement might be obtained by stopping this unnecessary escaping which will take up 2bytes instead of one. What I want to know, which are the charcters that need escaping. Or is it ok to give "asyncmap 0" in which case no characters will be escaped. Since scroll up/down <backspace> <return> are all used on the local copy of a downloaded file I dont think they need to be escaped, but what about the "^]". Has anybody experienced noticeable improvements, with this. I am still in a bit of doubt about how significant the change might be -- sreangsu ---------------------------------------------- An alpha version of a web based tool to manage your subscription with this mailing list is at http://lists.linux-india.org/cgi-bin/mj_wwwusr
