So what is the problem? Browse over to http://rpmfind.net and figure
out which RPM provides libc-client.so.

It seems to me that the libc-client is now a shared .so library, not a
.a static library. Makes sense, since not just UW packages, but other
software (notably, PHP) uses it to access IMAP servers/folders.
For me, the imap-devel-4.7-5 RPM provides only the .a archive, not the
.so library. So you might want to upgrade that to the 4.7a version.

Install the kerberos RPMs as well. And don't force install as far as
possible, try to satisfy dependencies. rpm's --provides, --requires,
--whatprovides and --whatrequires flags are your friends; use them!
If you ask me, force installation is useful only for the kernel.
Can I make a request to the listers? When posting a query to LIH, would
you all try to include the following information? It helps anyone who
tries to answer, and will definitely improve the reply and usefulness
of the list.
1. Linux kernel version.
2. Distribution name and version.
3. Package version, about which the query is.
So, a line like "This is on Debian 2.2 running kernel 2.2.18 and apache
1.3.14, with mod_ssl 2.7.1" at the beginning of the post will be nice.
Thaths, can this be added to the posting guidelines of LIH?
