Hi

The Processor load is not high. (97% idle).

The IMAP service is not enabled now.

The server runs DNS and Sendmail and has the mail boxes.

The server gets the POP requests aand the POP3 process dies out saying too
many requests.

will changing to xinetd do the trick ?

Regards

Bloody hell! A dell powredge with so much RAM and HDD can't cater to 300

What kind of imap daemon are you running?

Suggestions - do a top to see system load and check what's causing load
If IMAP, see if your users have several MB of junk (fw:fw: screensavers etc)

Have them clear their inboxes .....

Then switch to a stable imap daemon like cyrus or courier instead of uw-imapd
(which I think is what you are running - that's the default with redhat etc)

        -s
