Add the user to the 'audio' group. Edit /etc/group.

Same thing applies if you want to connect from a normal user. Add the user
to 'dip' group.

I have done this on my home debian box. 

ps. : Just downloaded kde 2.1 ( earlier I had kde 2.1 beta ) debs. First time I
used apt-get to install konqueror and all the required libraries. Some of
the errors which were cropping up in beta version have all vanished and it
is also faster. 

The download of konqueror with the required libraries is around 12-13MB.
It took me around 2 hrs. on dial up at home :-)

Then I downloaded kmail, kscd, kmidi, ksnapshot, kdebase from 2.1 stable
treee.
