Ok you can try giving "rw" to lilo. I dont have the exact format, should
be there on boot-prompt howto. I guess that should overide whatever configs
are there in your fstab. Once you do that and it mounts read write
you should be able to fix the fstab.

Actually my mistake, single user wouldnt help here, try booting from a cd.
