Check your /etc/resolv.conf..
it should look like
search isp.com
nameserver aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd
nameserver aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd
#search satyam.net.in
#nameserver primary.dns.server.address
#nameserver secondary.dns.server.address
And take a look at http://exocore.com/linux . This should be
documented in the FAQ.
