Yes there is, the kernel itself. You need to have MASQuerading support built into the
kernel (probably there by default in your kernel), and also the IP-MASQ modules. You
need to load these into the kernel. Also the kernel has something called ip tables
(with no documentation) or you can use the older IP chains (with more documentation)
to set up your outgoing and incoming connections to the box connected directly. If
you're using RedHat or SuSE all this should be easily configurable as the scripts to
start the services already exist on the box. Read up the Masquerading and IPChains
HOWTOs.
