I suppose you are talking about windoze here.... fat is a lousy filesystem
the amount of data and amount of diskspace used are different!
(create a few blank text documents in a folder and and then check the
folder properties!)

If you want to rip a CD... use MpegTV aka mtv it converts ur VCD into a
mpg file... this is what I do when I want to watch a movie that my friend
borrowed at a later time!
