The problem is not due to the server running on dynamic port but
it has to do something with the permissions. You can easily solve this
problem by removing the xfs running with non root permissions.
All you have to do is to remove the "--user xfs" or -droppriv from the
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs . Change it to
daemon xfs -port -1 -daemon
And live happily ever after. I have not been able to find out why it
happens suddenly, But it certainly has to do with with permissions rather
than the port. I once encountered this problem in redhat which by default
runs on port 7100, had to remove the droppriv to make it work.
