check out the linux usb project site to see if the modem is supported
under linux usb on linux is pretty new
Does dishnet offer DSL connections at all ??? I went thru all their ads
and other material... it's a whole lot of B**SH*T ... the word DSL doesn't
appear even once !!! it's always DishnetDSL (one word no spaces)!
And they offer DSL on co-ax cables... I was under the impression that DSL
worked on twisted pair copper.
And even the download speeds which they showed were *interesting* a 64kbps
DSL line downloads almsot twice as fast a 56kbps modem !! (Are people that
dumb to fall for it ??? what did they download to test it out ?? a text
file with the same character repeating a zillion times via http ???)
And at Rs4 per MB of transfer dialup work out a LOT LOT cheaper.
(I did 200MB+ in one nite on dialup cost me < 200bucks ... on DSL I
would have paid almost 1000 rupees!!)
And remember if they have a lot of packet loss on the network which
dishnets ISP service always seems to have... you will be paying for each
request for lost data !!(packet packet MegaByte banta hai! ;-)
In Feb2k they wanted be shell out an advance which will allow me to surf
at *twice* the speed I paid for !! (I don't think they have even today
started service to all places and this is in bangalore (Silicon Valley did
someone say ?? took me 6 months to get a phone line. WoW! SMK what
infrastructure!))
