 AFAIK, that _has_ been Debian policy for quite some time re package release
 (patch older, stable versions instead of releasing bleeding edge stuff)
 
 Not a bad idea, 'cept in cases where a lot of functionality gets added into a
 newer version (but then, downloading and compiling code solves that) :)
