infact there is a kernel module, which does exactly this. I came upon it
following up a question on LIP regarding monitoring file creation times.
This module logs calls to open(), write() and can be configured with which
to trap and which to ignore.

It should be someplace in my pc, but no idea where. I have to dig this.
