but thats strange isnt it ? because it *is* IDE.
I had witnessed a similar problem, when playing an (active ;) audience in
an mandrake 7.2 install. The kernel loaded its image fine, from the cd,
it detected the hard disk and all. But then tried to load a couple of
modules for reading the cd-drive, but failed (cdrom.o) . It just hung
there attempting to modprobe another module ( cd-ide.o or ide-cd.o I dont
remeber it well ).
What was wierd is had read from the cd, just momments ago. The error,
happened every time at the same place. Finally mandrake 7.0 had to be
installed which went without a hitch.
But the main question is, if its IDE shouldnt any driver be able to read
it. Apparently its not so as /lib/modules/.../cdrom has quite a few
modules there.
