hi,
This option of -n is a bit confusing for me .... can anyone try to clear up
this lil doubt? The doubt is ... although i get the numeric output of the
ping command by specifying the -n option .... why do i have to specify it
explicitly in the ping command ?.... and is there a way to disable this
default behaviour of the ping command of trying to lookup symbolic names for
host addresses ? when i pass the ping command without any options .. it
starts giving me the ping replies from roughly around the 10th packet.
this happens to me on RH 6.2 / 7.0 .. didn't happen in RH 6.1.
one more query is that in RH systems (i don't know if it's there in other
linux systems as well) ... there is a way that a previous command that has
been passed 'x' days back can be recalled by typing a few letters of the
command and pressing some sequence of keys ? ? ... does anyone know how to
recall a particular command ?
Thanking you in advance
Dharmesh
