The last time I used gtkyahoo - it sucked. It looked more like a
proof-of-concept messenger. But I don't know how it is now..
Personally, I'm currently sticking with gaim. Apart from the fact that it
supports multiple protocols, it also does smilies! :)
It does crash sometimes, but I think you might like using it better than
gtkyahoo. Another option you could try out is everybuddy, or maybe yahoo's
own linux yahoo client.
