I have recently purchased a system with PIII 866 and mercury MB with
i815e chip. I installed RH6.2 and upgraded to kernel 2.2.16-3. X
remains the same. I tried Xconfigurator. It didn't show graphics. (In
i810 machine I used to get about chipset) Still I tried as in Feb 2001
PCQ. But agpgart module is not found loaded with lsmod. I saw agpgart
line in /etc/conf.modules and in /dev and also module in
/lib/modules/2.2.16-3/misc.
X didn't work. As I had XF86_SVGA of debian, i tried with that also
instead of XFCom_i810. Still no use. Any solution to use i815e on board
graphics in linux with the system i have will be appreciated. My X is
3.3.6.
