Actually the bug is rather obscure and not likely to crop up in the
wild too often, which is probably why I was lazy about the original
advisory :)

I personally would disable FTP services behind the firewall and wait
for the new kernel... I find it a pain to patch with
half-patch-levels.  And many people don't patch at all: they just rpm
or apt-get or whatever a new kernel.
