 Or run any imap / pop3 server chrooted, so that it looks for passwords in
 (say) /home/popserver/etc/passwd rather than the usual /etc/passwd file.

 Of course, there's also the question of delivering mail to the appropriate
 mailbox, and setting permissions properly etc.  You'd have to modify Mlocal
 in your sendmail config for that.
