hi swapan,
you can remove all 100dpi,type1 fonts etc but u must atleast have the 75 dpi
fixed fonts and the console fonts like the 8x13*pcf fonts as they are
necessary for the basic rendering of console and x fonts.some programs like
ghostsctipt also need the type1 fonts installed in the /usr/share/fonts.Also
abiword needs it own fonts.but abiword will be happy with ttfonts anyways as
the names are similar like arial,times new roman etc.if ur using tetex it
uses its own set of fonts and enlightenment also uses it own ascii art kinda
fonts.I too wish all unix apps use the same fonts for all applications.and I
hope the linux standards base would do something about this.but making
everything to type1 would be a better idea as they are available free,all
applications except a few xfree86 project apps and console can use it and is
really rendered well when it is antialiased.
