I have been using ALSA for over a year now without much problems! (took me
*some* time to get my via686a working but other than that everything else
worked great!
and the best thing about alsa is it's Full Duplex.
and I think with the OSS/lite aka kernel sound drivers I think the number
of mixer controls are fixed... but with alsa you get the full
functionality of your card!
(I get over 130 controls on my SB Live!!)
