[LIH] Post compile Kernel 2.4.4 Error

Hi,

I have had default kernel 2.2.14 on RH 6.2. I downloaded the 2.4.4
tarball and did the necessary. On reboot, the eth0 wouldn't start. Also
there are two other services that won't start. Cannot figure out which
as it just goes away fast.

All this is on Dell Optiplex GX1, P-III with 128 RAM and 6GB HDD. Need
more info ?
