Yes that should be possible... my via686a can emulate a SoundBlaster 
(settings in the BIOS) ... and then probably the SB driver would drive the
card... but you wouldn't get the full functionality of the card... but it
all depends on what you want to do with your sound card... listen to biffs
beeping or try mixing music !
