or in other words 6Kbps. I guess the results could be because of hardware
compression in the modem. Infact i am not really convinced that vsnl does
not do compression, for at sometimes KBps does spike to 12 once in a
while. I will keep a watch out for ccp transactions in my messages for a
while.

no problem there, the modules bsd_comp and ppp_deflate get loaded without
any hitch. BTW where are you now ?
