hazarding a guess that its a redhat distro, there wont be much else in the
messages file, even if one enables the "debug" option for ppp. On needs to
tweak syslog.conf so that the messages file catches the debug info. found
it the hard way ;)
The standard ppp logs will ofcourse be there like, loading of modules, ip
addresses obtained, exit status etc.
