Yes, goto linux single mode, but I think u don't know that
I will tell you
When u boot linux, type 'linux single' and lilo prompt
And you will get a shell like this
#
now type
# passwd (press enter)
it will ask for password, enter new root passord, and press enter
it will ask you to re-enter password, u type password again, and
press enter
now ur root passprd is changed, reboot snd loggin...
