what device driver module? Ensure that /dev/mouse is pointing to the
appropriate device ...
mjollnir:~ ls -al /dev/mouse
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 5 Dec 19 06:00 /dev/mouse -> psaux
If that's redhat or mandrake, run "mouseconfig".
