[LIH] Sendmail Relaying denied.

The clients using outlook etc are getting a message "550 relaying denied". I
am using sendmail 8.9.3 (will update after June 23rd). How to overcome this?
If I put the real name of the client machine which is "xyz" in /etc/hosts
files as "IP no.        xyz.hau.nic.in", it works. Adding a line with "ip No.   xyz"
doesnot. What is the solution?
