Sorry - I deleted your original mail... If data is your primary concern...
at least before anything else - if mdk still sees your d: as a win98
partition - it might be able to mount it as well... copy the whole stuff
to c: so that U can experiment freely...

It would be helpful if you could send in the exact outputs of dos fdisk
and mdk fdisk...

Is D: formatted to  FAT32 ? FAT32 drives give problem with plain old DOS
/UMSDOS
