Hi all,

I have been attempting to install linux on a Compaq ProLiant 1500 Server.

I tried to install redhat7.1 first. But i got a message saying that i do not
have enough RAM to install RedHat Linux. The machine is equipped with 128MB
of RAM. I tried passing the same in the boot option of the installation
program.
boot: linux mem=128M
But, this time i got a message saying "could not mount root fs" and asking
me to "give a correct root= boot option"

I tried RedHat6.2 with the required updates for anaconda. This time though,
i did not need to pass the mem=128M parameter.
After waiting patiently through the install, the installation was
successful. But, when i rebooted the machine, i got the following error
during boot...
VFS: Mount root (ext2 filesystem)
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k block-major-8, errno = 2
VFS: Cannot open root device "801" or 08:01
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:01

Somebody help me please

Regards,
Sam
