That's right. Switch to a higher color depth if possible. For me a 16 bit 
depth works well. You'll normally see this error because you're running in 
with a depth of 8 bits. What happens is this: The number of bits determines 
how many colors the video card can display simultaneously. So as each app 
loads up, it needs some of predefined colors for itself that get reserverd in 
the 'color map' If there are many apps open or if an app requests more than 
255 colors, it won't be able to run....
