openGL is not "open" as in open-source!! you need to pay for it! so most
of the drivers that come with X use MesaGL as a replacement for openGL ...
I have a TNT2 .. the binary drivers for which come with OpenGL !
But for all the video cards I had before that I had to use MesaGL
