Thanks Kingsly & others,
The APM was already enabled in the kernel; I disabled the last option (as
specified by Kingsly): 'Use real mode APM BIOS call to power off'. I've also
enabled the ACPI support option.
Now the Power is switched off at Shutdown, but only one problem - I don't
know which of the two modification corrected the problem. Gotta recompile and
check....
