Hi all
I'm running RH7.1 server as my gateway. It has got a cable modem
connection. Machine configuration is
P III, 64 MB RAM, 6 GB HD. I've set up the machine as Name server, Mail
server, Internal web server, Proxy server.
Firewalling rules are also configure in that. The problem is I've heared
that name server and proxy utilizes memory a lot. The machine
used to shutdown daily evening and is restarted everyday morning. As
I know, once the machine is shutdown the nameserver cache goes of.
The machine serves pretty well in the morning hours but start
dragging late in the evening. I checked the free mem. There is no free
memory and it's utilizing the swap also.
Is adding 64 MB RAM more will be solution. Will that speed up the
processes. Or is there any other solution for improving the system
performance ??? Valuable suggestions expected... Please do advise !!!
