Hi,

I got the problem. When compiling kernel on Debian once I had enabled the
option

[ ATA/IDE/MFM/RLL Support ----> IDE,ATA & ATAPI Block devices ----> ]
* Intel PIIXn Chipsets Support
* PIIXn Tuning Support

If u enable this and boot with the fresh kernel, u get
this

cat /proc/ide/piix

                                Intel PIIX4 Ultra 66 Chipset.
--------------- Primary Channel ---------------- Secondary Channel
-------------
                 enabled                          enabled
--------------- drive0 --------- drive1 -------- drive0 ---------- drive1
------
DMA enabled: yes no yes yes
UDMA enabled: yes no yes yes
UDMA enabled:   4                X               2                 2
UDMA
DMA
PIO

Due to this. When I mount cdrom drive it gives driveseek error and than
there is no other option than switching off power :-)

Due to the above problem I was always disabling the above option while
compiling kernel after applying patches.

However if u disable dma hdparm -d0 /dev/hdx (cdrom drive device)
than mount works.

Since redhat kernel 2.4.2-2 enables the above option, this problem occurs
with LG 48x drives on i810.

Just now finished creation of kernel-2.4.6.deb file and compiled the same
on PCQLinux too. Now I am booting PCQLinux with 2.4.6 :-)

Those of u who face problem in mounting CDROM after installing PCQLinux
should put the following in /etc/rc.d/rc.local

/sbin/hdparm -d0 /dev/hdax ( where x is your CDROM device )

Saludos... :-)
