Well, konqueror is the way to go! GPL'ed, and feature rich. It is not
just a browser, but a file manager, has support for smb shares, ftp
(both anonymous and authenticated), OpenSSL (for those https sites)
and the full power of kparts integrated (which means it can show
pdf/ps/any other format which has a viewer in KDE inside the browser
window, much like MSIE). It also supports netscape plugins (especially
the flash plugin for netscape on linux).

You might have to download a JDK for java support in konqueror, since
I believe till KDE 2.1.1, kaffe is not supported. Blackdown's is the
best, I hear.

Features not seen in other browsers are the split-window function -
you can view two sites side by side (or top and bottom) using the same
browser window, per site cookie policy (so that one can accept Yahoo's
cookies, but reject Hotmail's ;-) and the open-terminal function.

KDE 2.2beta1 has apparently support for Windows-like printer browsing
and restricted directory views based on mime types (so that one can
view all jpegs in a directory, ignoring other files).

It justifies its name - after the navigator and explorer, the
konqueror has come, seen and konquered!
