AFAIK, none ! Nothing stops a boot disk log in ... I know,
the risk is stated in the LOST tip below. Passwords  don't
help here (except for BIOS passwords).. as long as someone
does not discharge the CMOS !!!

Incidentally, loadlin will get  through in spite of every-
thing you do in lilo.conf ! Or for that matter even if you
remove lilo altogether.

Sub : Loss of root password                          LOST #029

Log in to Single user mode. At the LILO boot prompt type in:
linux 1 init=/bin/sh root=/dev/hdaN mount rw
(where N is the number of your root partition)
Then change the password for root with the command: #passwd
