If you boot from the disk in a different machine everything will be the same 
except for display configuration/network card/modem/sound card.

Otherwise you need to mount the partitions. If the host has all file system 
drivers then it's just one and the same. If host machine uid/gids aer 
diferent than your HDD machine, then you will see file/directory owners as 
numbers. Everything else will be pretty much same.

In short, yes, if you have enough filesystem drivers. Don't expect a RHL5.2 
system to recognise reiserfs partition.
