Hello everybody,

Yesterday, I installed PCQ 7.1 Linux in our Linux server
at the Civil department.

During installation, I unchecked BOOTP and DHCP and manually
gave IP number 192.168.100.1 to the machine ( rather, eth0, I think )
and kept the default values for netmask, broadcast address, etc.
The D-Link ethernet card was detected without any problems.

After installation, I used netcfg to put the name civil01
to 102.168.100.1 so as to be able to access telnet to this machine.

Other computers in the room running Windows 98 were already set
up for intranet connection before and were working well with the
previous installation of Linux on this server ( Red Hat 6.2 , without X,
since this has i810 mobo ).

Now the problem is that though I can ping to this machine from the Windows
computers, I cannot telnet to this machine from the others.
Can someone tell me what file(s) need to be changed ?

Regards,
Santanu Chatterjee
