The only common factor seems to be Yahoo. Try dumping yahoo and signing on
with another provider, see if it helps.
Yahoo and other freemail services have some hassles ...
1. Any large amounts of mail coming in from a single IP sometimes hit their
filters and get blocked
2. If their servers are overloaded / your mailbox is full, yahoo calmly
returns a 550 and permanently rejects the connection
