Sorry pal,the disk setup that you have will not allow you to create bootable
partition( root or /boot) using Disk Druid (DD)
This is because of the "1024 cylinders problem".
Briefly, it involves certain (old) BIOSes that cannot read beyond the first
1024 cylinders of the hard disk...thus your bootable partition must lie
within the first 1024 cylinders (~6GB).
If you have bought your PC during the last 3-4 yrs, your BIOS may not have
this problem, but still DD will not allow you to create a bootable partition
above 1024 cylinders.
You will have to create a bootable partiton using fdisk....don't worry,
fdisk is very simple, even though it has the reputation of being quite
intimidating.
For more info on fdisk see the "Installation" How-To and "Partition" mini
How-To at www.linuxdoc.org
Do read the support manual at http://www.exocore.com/linux/lilo1024
Typically swap size is twice you RAM size.
Ex: if you RAM size is 64M, usually swap is set to 128M
The RedHat manual (rhl-ig-x86-en-7.1) found on the second CD says that /boot
can be maximum 32M while the above article at exocore wants you to create a
50M /boot......it's your wish whom to follow!
Size of /home depends on what you are going to do in linux....
Size of root depends on what packages you install. A custom class
installation requires min 300M.
If you select every package you need approx 2.4GB.
More queries are welcome....
Regards,
Namit
