To Shutdown with mouse in gui select logout.  u will come to shutdown menu from where 
u can shutdown.

 as regards shutdown command not found u need to be root to shutdown until unless the 
logged in user has the shutdown previlages.
  login as root and try shutdown or halt as u like.
