Your problem may be a bit tricky. Try creating an ext2 partition and swap
partition from pqmagic. then start the installation choose fdisk when asked.
without selecting the hda or hdb click next. edit the ext2 partition and set
the mount point as /. this should work perfectly. if you are able to see the
partitions under pqmagic.
