If you compile postgres from sources(It takes 10 minutes on my P-III-733) then
you can enable jdbc. Distros often break packages into components so you need to
find out which rpm offers jdbc for postgres.
All I can say that postgres jdbc is fast. One of my colleague is working on that
and he is real happy with the speed.
