The packages which are using GNU automake/autoconf certainly has that. If the
top level source dir has a Makefile.am, then it will certainly have a make
uninstall. Even if you have removed the sources, just untar them again and do a
./configure --prefix=<your prefix dir>. Get this one option correct and you will
be able to uninstall everything cleanly.
And next time use checkinstall instead of 'make install'. Search it on freshmeat.
