Hmmm.. qmail uses maildir - so there shouldn't be all that much of a hassle
with nfs locking issues (which is what would immediately come to mind if you
are running mbox format mailboxes)

nfs does caching as far as I remember ... and if you are using linux, nfs
sucks as a technology as far as I have seen.  It's much more of a solaris /
other unix land technology (performance is much better there).

Dont know if things have improved after the one or two times I tried it out
last year ...
