Yeah, that's because the initial manifesto of  KDE was to keep 
transition from M$ to Linux as painless as possible... This is 
very much a  Win-9x  thing ... for  activating "Start" button.
KDE replaced "Start" with "K" (whatever that means),  but  the
key sequence was retained.
